Nature’s fury can strike without warning, leaving communities devastated in its wake. History bears witness to numerous natural calamities that have caused immense loss of life and property, particularly in vulnerable regions like Jammu & Kashmir.
Beyond providing immediate rescue and relief during such events, the Alamdar Peace and Welfare Foundation (APWF), in collaboration with Caritas International, implemented a comprehensive three-year Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) programme in the Kashmir division.
Through this initiative, APWF actively engaged with local communities to build their capacity for self-resilience in the face of disasters. The primary objective was to ensure that people at the grassroots level are equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and preparedness needed to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies—enabling them to survive and manage critical situations until formal assistance becomes available.
By promoting community-based disaster preparedness, APWF continues to empower vulnerable populations, making them active participants in their own safety and resilience.
