Volleyball has long struggled for attention in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir due to limited infrastructure, coaching, and opportunities. The region has not yet produced a player to represent it on a national or international stage. To change that narrative, Alamdar Peace and Welfare Foundation, through the HCL Foundation’s “Sports for Change” initiative, created a platform for students—especially those with disabilities—to demonstrate their skills. Players were carefully chosen after school-level trials and rigorous district and regional competitions. In preparation for the nationals, they received guidance not only in the sport but also in essential life skills like discipline, respect, teamwork, and punctuality. The hard work paid off when the selected team reached Nagpur, Maharashtra, for the national finals—and made history by winning the tournament. It was a proud and inspiring milestone for Jammu & Kashmir.
